A straight bevel gear is a fundamental type of bevel gear characterized by straight teeth that, when extended inward, converge at the intersection of the shaft axes. Distinguished by its uncomplicated tooth profile—straight and parallel to the gear’s conical generatrix—this bevel gear variant offers a simplistic structure, facile manufacturing process, and cost-efficiency, rendering it one of the most extensively utilized bevel gear types across industrial and agricultural sectors.

In contrast to spiral bevel gears featuring curved teeth, straight bevel gears achieve power transmission through linear contact between meshing teeth, ensuring reliable operation and convenient maintenance. It should be noted, however, that they may generate marginally higher noise levels at elevated speeds in comparison to their curved-tooth equivalents.
