Module Zero Bevel Gear

BELON possesses a 26000㎡ manufacturing plant for monthly 8000 sets of lapped bevel gears. Our lapped bevel gears have been exported to more than 30+ countries and serves top brand customers worldwide. No matter whether your drawing is available or your sample available, BELON has the comprehensive ability to optimize your design or reverse engineer gear design to meet your application demands.

A zero bevel gear is a bevel gear where the teeth are curved but have a zero-degree spiral angle at the midpoint of the tooth face. It can be regarded taking a straight bevel gear tooth and bending it into a gentle, concave curve while ensuring the tooth’s centerline still points radially (like a straight tooth). The result is a tooth that is curved in lengthwise profile but not angled in the direction of rotation—hence “zero” spiral. The term “Zero” does not refer to the tooth curvature; it refers to the spiral angle. They are spiral bevel gears with a 0° spiral angle. Zero Bevel Gear is the perfect compromise which is not a radical departure but a smart evolution. If a straight bevel gear is too noisy and a spiral bevel gear introduces problematic thrust loads or requires a costly redesign, the zero bevel gear is the engineered solution. It offers a meaningful improvement in smoothness and noise over straight bevels while retaining their low-thrust characteristic, all at a manufacturing complexity and cost closer to that of spiral bevels.

Features:
(1)Smoother & Quieter Operation than Straight Bevels: The curved tooth allows for a gradual, rolling engagement (multiple teeth are in contact during the roll). This reduces the characteristic “slap” and impact noise of straight bevel gears, making them significantly quieter.
(2)Low Axial Thrust Load (Critical Advantage): Unlike spiral bevel gears, which generate substantial axial thrust forces that demand large thrust bearings and robust housings, zero bevel gears generate negligible axial thrust.
(3)This is because the forces are directed radially, just like in straight bevel gears.
(4)Easy Retrofit/Replacement: They can often be mounted in the same housing designed for straight bevel gears without requiring expensive thrust bearing upgrades. This makes them a perfect “drop-in upgrade” to reduce noise in an existing straight bevel gearbox.
(5)Suitable for High Speeds (to a degree): Their smoother action allows them to operate at higher pitch line velocities than straight bevel gears, though not as high as true spiral bevels.
