Lapped spiral bevel gears usually goes through a lapping process after heat treatment and reaches a accuracy of DIN8 or AGMA Q9-10. It is a low-pressure abrasive process that improves surface finish and contact pattern but does not correct heat treatment distortion or tooth spacing errors. Due to relatively lower cost, it’s more suitable for medium speed/load application in agricultural machinery and standard reducers.
