We can work with pretty much material, and choosing which material shall depend on customers’ needs.
For steel, the most common material customer used is 18CrNiMo7-6, 40CrNiMo, 42CrMo, 8620, etc. We can sugget suitable materials based on your heat treatment requirements. For example, low carbon materials suitable for whole hardening carburizing reach HRC56-62. Medium carbon materials are suitable for whole hardening Nitriding. And materials, such as 42CrMo, can meet your needs for area hardening (induction hardening).
For stainless, we tend to use 303, 304, 17-4 PH, etc. 303 is easier to machine but less corrosion resistant than 304. 17-4 with high strength and can be heat treated to high hardness. Bronze and brass are also common material to use, especially worm wheels. If strength isn’t critical and weight is a concern, we can also work with aluminum.
