Gears need to be running with two gears or above two gears, that makes them easy to be worn-out. That’s why most types of gears need to be harden through heat treatment. Heat treatment is critical for gears to achieve the necessary combination of surface hardness (for wear and pitting resistance) and core toughness (to withstand bending loads and shock). These processes are typically performed after rough machining and before final finishing. BELON tailor the heat treatment process according to customers’ applications and materials choices—from Normalizing or Annealing, Quenching and Tempering, Inductive Hardening / Laser Hardening, Carburizing, Nitriding.

Gear CNC Grinding Process

ID grinding, OD grinding, Surface grinding all belong to CNC grinding which are the foundational precision abrasive machining processes used to achieve exceptional dimensional accuracy and surface finishes, especially on hardened materials. They are not used to create gear teeth directly but are absolutely essential for preparing accurate blanks and, most importantly, for finishing the critical mounting and datum surfaces (bore and OD) of a hardened gear to the micron-level precision required for smooth, quiet, and reliable operation in a power transmission system.
