For Wind Power Applications
Main Gearbox
The main gearbox is a critical component located between the rotor and the generator in a wind turbine. It converts the slow rotational speed of the blades into higher speeds required for electricity generation, while withstanding variable loads, torque fluctuations, and extreme operating conditions over decades of service.
- Planetary Gears: Precision-ground sun gears, planet gears, and ring gears form the first stage of the gearbox, providing high torque multiplication in a compact design.
- Helical Gears: Case-hardened and ground helical gears are used in parallel stages to further increase speed and ensure smooth, quiet power transmission.

Pitch Drive System
The pitch drive system controls the angle of each turbine blade to optimize power output and protect the turbine from overspeeding in high winds. This system requires precise, responsive gearing to adjust blade position smoothly and reliably under varying loads and environmental conditions.
- Pitch Drive Gears: Custom-cut spur or planetary gear sets designed for compact integration into the blade hub, delivering precise rotational control.
- High-Precision Pinions: Ground and super-finished pinions ensure smooth engagement and minimal backlash for accurate blade positioning.
- Corrosion-Resistant Gears: Specially coated or stainless steel gears protect against moisture and atmospheric exposure in offshore or humid environments.

Yaw Drive System
The yaw drive system rotates the nacelle to keep the turbine facing into the wind, maximizing energy capture. This system operates intermittently but must handle high static and dynamic loads, ensuring reliable orientation control throughout the turbine’s lifetime.
- Yaw Drive Gears: Heavy-duty spur or helical gear sets designed to handle high torque during nacelle rotation and maintain position under braking.
- Slewing Bearings with Integral Gears: Large-diameter slewing rings with integrated gear teeth for smooth, controlled rotation of the nacelle.
- Multi-Stage Planetary Reducers: Compact planetary gearboxes providing high reduction ratios and precise speed control for yaw motors.
