Module Ground Spiral Bevel Gear
Spiral Bevel Gear is a type of bevel gear with curved teeth, oblique teeth to provide gradual engagement and larger contact surface at a given time than an equivalent straight bevel gear. This gradual meshing characteristic effectively reduces impact loads during transmission, minimizes operating noise, and enhances overall transmission stability—making it far superior to straight bevel gears in high-speed, high-torque industrial applications.
Gear grinding is a critical precision machining process performed after heat treatment, specifically tailored for spiral bevel gears to unlock their full performance potential. This process utilizes high-precision shaped grinding wheels, paired with precise generating or forming motions, to actively grind the tooth surfaces of gears with exceptional control. Unlike passive finishing processes such as lapping, gear grinding actively removes material to not only correct thermal deformation caused by heat treatment but more importantly, to precisely modify and optimize the macroscopic geometry of the tooth surface—including tooth profile, tooth direction, and crowning (a specialized “drum shape” design). This optimization ensures the gear achieves a theoretically ideal meshing state, which is instrumental in improving contact stress distribution and enhancing the gear’s load-bearing capacity. For ground spiral bevel gears, this process also delivers extremely low surface roughness (as low as Ra 0.4 µm, per BELON’s production standards) and high geometric accuracy (up to DIN 4 quality level), laying the foundation for excellent wear resistance, quiet operation, and long service life in demanding industrial scenarios such as heavy machinery, mining, and precision equipment.
