- Hobbing is the most common and cost-effective method for cutting external spur and helical gears. It uses a rotating hob to generate teeth continuously, suitable for medium to high volumes.
- Shaping uses a reciprocating cutter and is ideal for internal gears, shoulder gears, or gears with interference that hobbing cannot handle.
- Grinding is a finishing process, not a cutting process — it removes a small amount of hardened material after heat treatment to achieve high precision and smooth surface finish.
We use all three processes depending on your requirements: hobbing or shaping for soft gears (pre-heat treatment), and grinding for finished hard gears requiring DIN 5-6 accuracy.
