In a spur gear motor, the motor drives a spur gear, which then meshes with another gear to transfer motion. Unlike helical gears, these spur gears produce no axial thrust during meshing, which drastically reduces wearing to motor bearings and gearbox, prolonging the overall service life of motor units.
