OEM Helical Gear Shaft

A helical gear shaft is a single-piece component forged integrally from both the gear ring and the transmission shaft. Compared to an assembly consisting of a separate helical gear and shaft, it eliminates the stress concentration zones typically found at keyways—which arise from the assembly clearance between the gear and the shaft—thereby offering superior torsional and bending strength.

Furthermore, this integral machining process ensures perfect coaxial alignment between the gear’s pitch circle and the shaft’s datum axis. The inherent smooth meshing characteristics of helical gears, combined with this high-precision coaxiality, result in significantly lower noise levels and reduced vibration. Consequently, this component is typically utilized in applications such as the high-speed input shafts of reducers, gears with low tooth counts and small outer diameters, high-speed and high-torque transmission systems, and compact gearboxes.

Helical Gear Shaft For Reducer

 

Helical gear shafts are widely used in reducers, mostly on the high-speed input stage.

The high-speed end connects directly to the motor and runs at high speed. Its pinion is small with few teeth and a tiny inner bore. There is insufficient wall thickness in the small gear to machine a hub or keyway for fitting onto a separate shaft, so the gear has to be forged integrally with the shaft.

Besides, split gears tend to loosen, slip or suffer broken keys after long-time high-speed operation. By contrast, the one-piece gear shaft has no assembly clearance, delivering higher shock resistance, better concentricity with less vibration and noise. What’s more, the integrated structure eliminates extra mounting space for the gear, enabling a more compact gearbox design.
