Planetary Gears For Planetary Gearbox

This planetary gear is used in high-performance planetary gearboxes. With a module of 0.5, it is constructed from high-quality 8620 low-alloy steel, combining excellent core toughness and surface hardening properties. After carburizing heat treatment, the gear surface hardness reaches HRC 58-62, forming a highly wear-resistant outer shell while maintaining a tough, impact-resistant core capable of withstanding impact loads and fatigue under cyclic stress.

Accuracy DIN 6 significantly reduces operating noise and vibration while improving transmission efficiency and positioning accuracy. Typical applications include servo actuators, precision machine tools, industrial robot joints, medical devices, and aerospace drive systems, all of which demand extremely high dynamic response and operational smoothness.

The synergistic effect of 8620 steel and the carburizing process endows the gear with exceptional contact fatigue strength and bending fatigue strength. The small module design enables high torque density within a compact gearbox, thus contributing to lightweight, miniaturized planetary gearbox designs.

Planetary Gears Application

 

Planetary gear set is named for its sun-like central gear and other planet gears running around sun gear. The planet gears are held by a carrier, and this system has excellent performance where space is tight but torque demands are high.

You’ll find the most common place of a planetary gear set is likely in your driveway.  Nearly all modern cars automatic transmissions use planetary gears to achieve different gear ratios. Here, planetary gears enable smooth and seamless shifting unlike traditional manual gearboxes. It improves both fuel economy and driving comfort. Hybrid vehicles also use them as power-split devices, seamlessly combining engine and electric motor output. But planetary gear application is not limited to this.

Beyond transportation, planetary gear sets also work in heavy industry. For example, in wind turbines, they rely on planetary gearboxes transforming the slow, high-torque rotation of the rotor blades into the much faster speed required to generate electricity efficiently.
