Yes, we offer a wide range of heat treatment and surface finishing services per customer requests. Proper heat treatment is critical for gear performance, increasing surface hardness for wear resistance while maintaining a tough core to absorb shocks.
Heat treatment include:
- Carburizing (case hardening): For low‑carbon alloy steels whole hardening, like 20CrMnTi or 8620. Hardnedd around HRC 58–62 and a tough core. Best for high‑load, high‑wear gears.
- Nitriding: For medium‑carbon steels whole hardening, resulting in minimal distortion.
- Quenching and tempering: For medium‑carbon steels (e.g., 45#, 40Cr, 4140). Heating to achieve through‑hardness of HRC 30–45, or higher (HRC 50–55) with lower tempering.
- Induction hardening: Area hardening of tooth. Only the surface layer (1–5 mm deep) becomes hard (HRC 50–58), while the core remains unchanged.
- Tempering: Always performed after quenching to reduce brittleness and adjust hardness.
- Annealing or normalizing: Used to relieve stress and improve machinability before gear cutting.
Surface finishing (coating/plating) options include:
- Black oxide (blackening): A thin, anti‑rust coating that also reduces galling.
- Zinc plating: Provides corrosion protection (white or yellow chromate).
- Phosphating (manganese or zinc phosphate): Absorbs oil, improves break‑in wear, and offers moderate corrosion resistance.
- Nickel plating (electroless or electrolytic): Offers excellent corrosion and wear resistance, with uniform thickness.
