Lead times for custom gears depend on several factors: gear complexity (type, tooth geometry, precision grade), material availability, quantity, required heat treatment and finishing processes, and current shop load. In spite of the above-mentioned factors, we provide the following general guidelines:
Prototype gears: For new design, if you don’t need custom tooling, lead time is around 50 days assuming no specialized tools are required. If special tooling is required, around 60-70 days, depending heavily on the design and processing needed.
For lapping bevel gears, around 45-50 days, grinding bevel gears: around 50-60 days, cylindrical gears: around 45-60 days, worm gears: around 45-60 days.
Factors that may extend lead time: special materials, large gear diameters and qty, complex heat treatment schedules, or surface coating or phosphating. We will provide lead time in our sales confirmation, and we update you weekly production progress.
For long term contracts, we can discuss to have safety stock to support in-time delivery.
